Susan Witt graduated from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas in 1998. She worked for a small boutique medical malpractice defense firm in Houston where she defended hospitals, nursing homes and a variety of other medical providers throughout Texas until 2003. Susan relocated with her family in 2003 to Atlanta to work for a well respected insurance defense firm where she gained valuable experience working on a variety of legal matters defending claims. Susan has focused her career on civil litigation and in 2009, after gathering valuable experience as an insurance defense lawyer for over ten years, Susan moved to the Plaintff's bar where she is fully committed to the representation of her injured clients. Susan has a broad level of experience in pursuing a variety of personal injury matters including, but not limited to, auto accidents, premises liability and products liability. She has vast experience with medical malpractice, nursing malpractice, nursing home, assisted living and elder care abuse matters. |
Persuasion in the courtroom
Howard Nations has been at the forefront of civil and personal injury litigation for over 50 years and has built a national practice focused on mass tort pharmaceuticals, individual catastrophic injuries, and complex business litigation. Howard graduated from Florida State University in 1963 and from Vanderbilt Law School in 1966. He has four trial board certifications and has tried countless cases involving catastrophic injury, wrongful death, breach of contract, will contests, securities fraud, real estate fraud and domestic relations, among others. He also represented the accused in more than 300 pro bono criminal cases. As a pioneer in courtroom technology, Howard was the first attorney to have computer-generated liability and medical animations admitted into evidence at trial. As a leader in education, Howard co-founded AAJ’s National College of Advocacy, and has taught advocacy-related courses in law schools for 35 years. As one of the most sought after educators in the law profession, he is widely published and has lectured to lawyers in all 50 states. Howard also pioneered the use of forensic psychological and neurolinguistic principles to persuade judges and jurors in trial. |

Paula Frederick is General Counsel for the State Bar of Georgia, a unified bar organization with almost 47,000 members. As General Counsel Ms. Frederick is responsible for interpreting the ethics rules for lawyers, prosecuting lawyer discipline cases, and providing legal advice to the officers and directors of the organization. She has served in the Office of the General Counsel for 29 years and was Deputy General Counsel for Discipline before becoming General Counsel in 2009. Ms. Frederick is a 1982 graduate of the Vanderbilt University School of Law and a 1979 graduate of Duke University. Prior to joining the Office of the General Counsel, she spent six years as a staff attorney with the Atlanta Legal Aid Society handling civil legal matters for low-income people. Ms. Frederick is a Past President of both the Atlanta Bar Association and the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys. She is also an active member of the American Bar Association, where she serves as Chair of the Standing Committee on Professional Discipline. Recently she served on the Commission on the Future of Legal Services and chaired the Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility. In the past she has served on the ABA Board of Governors and chaired the ABA Diversity Center. |
